CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION (CPE)-Course Description
CPE units are 8 weeks of classes designed to train individuals in utilizing clinical counseling techniques
alongside of pastoral skills.  Units run for 8 weeks and classes are about 3 hours in length.  Students
will achieve 1 unit of CPE credit, accredited by the CPSP Board.  An individual can be certified as a
chaplain with three units depending on their prior background.  Through identifying goals based on
CPSP standards, the student will utilize supervision by a licensed clinical professional counselor,
discussion and process with his or her peer group, and practical hands on training from their chosen
site of practice.  Students will learn to integrate a variety of disciples from pastoral care, theology,
psychology, and culture.  Some units will include animal assisted therapy as a modality of care.  Cost is
a $400 tax-deductable donation to St. Juan Macias Missioners PCT, Inc.  You can earn 20% off for
referrals of 2 or more who join the class.   Contact (575) 461-1302 or (575)708-0033 to register or for
any further questions.  Classes are available both in person at 6276 Terrell, Tucumcari NM or on-line.
